Applications

Where the absorption happens

Because it absorbs and removes CO₂, soda lime is a multi-faceted component across three core environments.

Anaesthesia in the operating theatre

Anaesthesia

Absorbing CO₂ from exhaled gases during surgery.

Commercial diver underwater

Diving

Breathable air for commercial & defence divers.

Coal mine

Mining & tunnelling

Breathable atmospheres in sealed environments.

Handling

Store it right. Handle it safely

Warehouse storage

Storage

Store soda lime in a cool, dry place in well-sealed containers. Protect it from moisture, as soda lime readily absorbs moisture and can lose its effectiveness.

Protective gloves and PPE

Safe handling

Soda lime is moderately alkaline. Always wear gloves, safety glasses and a dust mask to protect against skin irritation and dust inhalation. Avoid direct contact; flush thoroughly with water if it occurs.
